the results are OUT!!!!

Its very clear what is happening....this overwhelming love which everyone has for denzil and to some extent for me has held people back from competing. The Jury (me...me) is really touched and humbled. Any attempt to rouse any anti-brotherly sentiments has failed. The unity amongst us has prevailed and hence in absence for a competitor Aaaawwwwllll the prizes go to the very talented and omnipresent tmt!!!!!! I would've won unanimously but being the jury that will be unfair. So kudos to tmt and heartfelt tears of compassion for everybody else......

Read it to know it....

Come one...come all...this is a once in a life time opportunity for everyone...this is an open competition for all SPAiites. To win a grand prize follow the following steps (that sounded weird):

Step 1: Closely observe the last two posts.
Step 2: Think of a witty comment to any of them and post it. You are allowed to comment on all if you want. Label your comment clearly indicating the pic for which it is as in Snap 1 or 2 or 3; 1 being the earliest pic to be uploaded.
Step 3: Your part is done. Now its up to The Jury (ME..ME...ME.....) to carefully go through all your entries and select the truly witty ones.

No amount of blackmail (emotional or otherwise) will help you secure The Jury's (ME...ME...ME) favor. An out of turn and term salary raise might shake my conscience though.

Eligibility:
  • The Contest is open to all (except those who are restricted or prohibited by law).
  • Entrants must be at least 18 years of age or older (or 30 in Bihar and Texas) at time of entry. Proof of age and jurisdiction may be required.
  • By participating in this Contest, each Entrant: (a) agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and the interpretations of these Official Rules by The Jury (ME...ME..ME....) and by the decisions of The Jury (ME...ME..ME....), which are final in all matters relating to the Contest; and (b) acknowledges compliance with these Official Rules.
  • Language is generally no bar but prizes are applicable only on the language which The Jury (ME....ME...ME....) understands, i.e. Hindi, English, Marathi.
  • Any disputes arising out of this will be settled strictly in the jurisdiction of........Jhumri Tallaiyya....!!!!!
The Grand Prize:
  • The winner will recieve a Bourneville (flavor of their choice).
  • Top five wittiest comments will recieve a 10Rs. Five star chocolate.
  • All those who comment will recieve 2 dairy milk eclairs.
  • All those who do not comment will recieve a scornful look by Kavita and deadlines by Mandar.
The last date of submission is 28th of March.

So Guys lets all gear up and show how incentives (free food...money...false praise) will make us work harder!!!!......

Just some thing which i came across...

"Today, if there's frugality, I'm ready. I'll do corrugated again. It's fun to work that way, and it's easy. Why spend all the money for fancy details and stuff? You don't need it. You can get the passion with simpler things."

An extract from the book am reading....Essential texts: Louis Kahn

‘I think that music is more akin to architecture than either sculpture or painting. If you think of music, it is very, very close to architecture, and I think personally, that every architect should learn to write music. It is wonderful to realize that when a man writes music he is not enthralled by the beauty of what he sees as a kind of writing-he is enthralled by what he hears. The musician hears what he writes-he doesn’t see it. The architect comes over and looks at his drawings and says: “Oh! Isn’t it wonderful! I think I’ll make a blow-up of it and put it in my living room!” To the musician his writing means something beyond itself-it means sound, it means organization of sound. An architect must be able to read the life that comes into his works through his plans. His realm of spaces is analogous to a sheet of music. I think a sheet of music and an architectural plan are the same thing’.

The Monacco Grand Prix!

Lately, I have been thinking as to why our Murcielago has been running like an Ambassador for the past few months and whether we have put rock oil into its V12 turbocharged engine that has stalled our exciting Saturday sessions.

What's even more confusing was that although there was a slight drop in 3rd poll volumes, most of the pollers supported these sessions. Some even thought we served good food! I know that these sessions are only 1 person's obsession but you really can't blame Som for putting so much into it. After all, 40% people think it is a fantastic excuse to run away from home chores which makes me believe that we should have these sessions each Saturday! :) Of course,  why should these creative sessions be limited to just creative people. All non-creative people should enjoy them as well. So from now on, we shall have non-creative sessions on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Saturday of each month.

In any case, we look forward to receiving your suggestions for all creative and non-creative sessions which will once again spike our excitement and qualify us for the Monacco Grand Prix!

Are architects lazy ??? and many more such....

Are architects lazy ????

Should a client know as much and or more than an architect about the project proceedings ????

who is a client ?? what is a client ???
How does an architect define a CLIENT ???????
is client one whose whims and fansies an architect needs to satisfy ??? and many more such....

Does an Architect need a client so as to build or does an ARCHITECT build for a client ????

Is design possible without a CLIENT or it needs a CLIENT ???
Is architecture possible without a CLIENT or it needs a CLIENT ????.....

and many more such ......

What is SPACE and what is PLACE.......

No Lavasa @ NITIE

Today, Kowli n Samant wore their 2 feather on their hat in just 2 weeks. After receiving the ever so painful commencement certificate for BOI 2 weeks ago, they bagged the "even more notorious" MOEF approval for the NITIE project today and that too without a single change from the jury. If you haven't done so already, please congratulate them (and Priyanka for all her generous support) since a lot of hard work has gone into this approval.

MPCA Administration Building

The presentation to the MPCA (Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association) yesterday went off very well thanks to efforts of many who worked their behind off on it all last week. Congratulations all of you!

We caught the 6:30 am flight to Indore with a bit of a skepticism. Although the plans were efficient, and the 3d's were fantastic (great job Nikhil n Gopika) and the overall presentation was as smooth as caramel custard, we received some last minute feedback that our dynamic facade of the building and the "khatarnaak" interior would be too flamboyant for the Indore'ians. Plus, carrying a budget of almost 60% higher than their expectation was not a small factor.

The presentation started at 6:30 pm sharp but we were called in only at 8:00pm. Later we found that there was a lot of debate and heated argument over our cost. Denzil was ready with his gloves (and a newly rented tuxedo) to answer all their questions; however, as the presentation progressed, there was a pin drop silence (other than us of course). At the end of the presentation, when the only question asked was "How soon can we have our building?", we knew we had nailed the presentation. We also overheard someone say that they would have never expected such a beautiful building to be constructed in Indore - leave alone in their complex.

2nd Poll Result Analysis! - WEB LOG (BLOG)

The 2nd BLOG poll was completed and the results are up! My analysis & Viewpoint is as follows:

- 8 people voted!  Yippee! - 33% more participation than last poll :) U all make "Peter Merholz" very proud!
- It appears (from the handwriting) that there was an equal divide in voting between sexes.
- At least 50% of SPA people are really honest people. The men just showed off  :)
- 5 others (than antz n rui n me) are actually getting addicted to the BLOG!
-  We have 825 hits to date on our BLOG. That's just 100,000,000 less than FB!
- Request for "How to Blog" actually had more takers for Saturday session than "Waterproofing".
- I'm still wondering who is paying for this blog!
- 1st Poll Result Analysis is the 2nd most popular post to date. :) Yes - even ahead of the NANO requisition! So we will continue with polls on new topics. And no! . No NANO for anyone until I get my Porsche!
